Dann Baker Interior Designer

Dann Baker’s passion for interior design started at a very young age, as he continually improved his surroundings and enjoyed changing the way things looked.  Whether repainting living spaces, reconfiguring lighting, restoring furniture and rearranging its placement within rooms, the young Dann was always at work reinvogorating spaces and inspiring those around him to experience these areas in completely new ways.

His talents expanded further as a Merchandising Manager for Kitchen Kaboodle retails stores (Portland, OR).   It was here that Dann's exposure to a wide range of materials, manufacturers and brands prompted his ever-expanding creativity.  At the same time, his familiarity with a large and diverse client base sharpened his customer-first philosophy, helping clients pull together all of the essential elements that help transform one's living environment and “Make your House a Home.”

As Dann's interest and expertise with home and commercial lighting became the focus, he took a position with Globe Lighting and successfully completed the ALA Lighting Specialist Program.  This professional certification opened the door to a wide range of larger scale projects with home-building contractors throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Dann's keenly developed sense of spacial concept, color, texture, and scale, helped shape several successful small retail spaces in the region, with extra focus on lighting design and physical layout considerations within each space.

Dann's accumulated professional experience and deepening appreciation of “Painting with Light” soon catapulted him back into academia.   Upon earning his BFA though the Interior Design program at Marylhurst University, Dann made a quantum leap forward, joining the the award-winning design team at CorsoStaicoff, Inc.   This firm's design reach extened to a wide variety of highly visible hospitality, restaurant, banking, and high-end residiential clients throughout the region.

While with CorsoStaicoff, Dann helped rework the Bearwallows Shevlin Commons Club House in Bend, Oregon, and also created a new Fixtures, Furnishings and Finishes program for numerous Umpqua bank locations.  He was also a key creative partner in the re-branding and top to bottom re-designing of several celebrated Boutique accomodations in the region, including Hotel Murano (Tacoma, WA) and Hotel Modera (Portland, OR).   Restaurants clients include Bite Restaurant within Hotel Murano; Barolo Ristorante in Seattle; as well as Pastini Pastaria locations in both Bend and Corvallis, Oregon.   Residential design highlights include a Penthouse unit atop the Elizabeth Building in Portland, OR, and a spacious single-family residence located in St. Louis, Missouri.

Dann has also had the pleasure of closely collaborating with Jennifer Adams of the Jennifer Adams Design Group (Portland, OR/ Boulder, CO/ Scottsdale, AZ) in designing the office space and locker rooms within the Hillsboro, Oregon Airport, as well as several residential projects.
Dann's professionalism is complemented by his volunteer work - giving back to the very design community that he feels so passionate about.  In this capacity, he has mentored thesis students at his alma mater, Marylhurst, helping guide them through coursework covering the entire design process, from conceptual to applied.

"Successful designs are dreams brought to reality."
